Believe it or not, I'm all for free trade. I agree with the theories. I believe that,
ultimately, these theories are correct.
In the meantime, you have factory workers like these who *used* to make
$18 per hour ($37,440) per year now becoming faceless statistics. Of
course in many local factories, more than one person's job is lost. I know
of one case where an extended family lost SIX incomes in one lay off.
Most likely these workers WON'T innovate fast enough.
It's hard to innovate when you're grieving and losing your house.
Thankfully there is an American company that gives people the opportunity
to build an international business (or just a domestic one if they
wish) promoting products every American household uses every day.
But the profits stay in the USA and the families and customers who
participate in this business keep dollars circulating in the local economy
and in the U.S.

Unlike some home business magazines, this is very professionally done and
my personal favorite.
I strongly suggest that you request a free issue.
Now, saying that, I don't think you should sign up for any and every
program you find, but this is one top quality magazine and lead
generating company.
BUT... here's a secret on getting them to sell you discounted leads.

But there's one undeniable fact of life.
If you don't have any money to invest, you can't make money this way.
How do people get money to invest? By creating income streams that exceed their living expenses... by creating businesses with tax deductions FOR investing... by providing services and products people will pay you real money for.
It's that simple.

Is Out Sourcing Jobs really a problem?
I love it when Libertarian columnists tell people that there really isn't a problem with the economy. They are usually paid writers and authors and aren't it seems spending much time on the front line
of suffering.
Their comments remind me of the man who has one foot in a pail of boiling water and the other foot in ice water and who is told that "on average, you shouldn't be feeling too bad!"
Fortunately, Thornton does show that there are probably 2 million workers who have given up looking for work.
There are many more who have taken work for substantially LESS than they were being paid before.
It's all right - in theory - to speculate that people ON AVERAGE are
doing all right.
In reality, many individual people find themselves completely devastated by the turmoil in the economy.
Unless you're nuts, you should be considering how to guarantee your income and create a "fall back" business for yourself and your family.
Just in case the averages don't go you're way and you're not paid to write articles telling people things aren't really too bad.

Americans for Fair Tax
Checking the news this morning, there's a new grass roots movement in the US House of Representatives to replace the income tax with a comsumption tax.
If you read this home page, you'll be pleasantly surprised by all the benefits...if things would work out that way.
BUT, I'm skeptical.
It's not that we don't need a change to be sure.
Nevertheless, consider all the individuals who stand to make money because of the tax... accountants, lawyers, tax preparers, investment sales people... a whole industry exists to capitalize off the vagaries of the income tax. Will they give up their livelihood easily? It's doubtful. Would we have CPA's if it weren't for the income tax? I doubt we'd have as many at least.
Think of all the states with BOTH a consumption tax and an income tax. They have 3 sources of revenue... sales tax, state income tax, and federal handouts.
They're still broke.
What's to keep the federal government from starting the income tax back up after they get an income tax... just like most socialist nations? Canada has an income tax and consumption tax. That's why as many Canadians are coming here to the US as possible to escape their oppressive tax regime.
States with state income tax rely on the IRS to do their dirty work in lots of ways. States can have an income tax because they piggy back on the federal system. If the federal system didn't exist, we might still have state income taxes or see state consumption taxes increased to offset any value obtained by a federal consumption tax.
States refuse to abandon the income tax because it's a much more steady source of income and grows faster than consumption taxes.
So I'm not sure if all the benefits promised will result. All most of us know is that something has to give somewhere.
Till then, the lowly tax preparation business can be a good small business... but the writing is on the wall. Demands for change are in the air.
